Magnets Only! The New 2026 Disney Cruise Line Rules Starting This Week

✨🚢 Oh boy, do I have some major news to share with all my fellow Disney cruisers! If you’ve got a sailing coming up this month or later in 2026, you’re going to want to sit down for this. I just got word that starting this week, June 3, 2026, Disney Cruise Line (DCL) is rolling out some pretty significant policy updates.
I’ve been sailing with Mickey for years, and let me tell you: change can be a little overwhelming! But don't worry. As your lead planner at Regal Scenic Journeys Travel, I’ve spent the morning digging through the fine print so you don’t have to. We want your vacation to be 100% magic and 0% stress!
From the way you decorate your stateroom door to how many bottles of bubbly you can sneak into your carry-on, there’s a lot to cover. Let’s dive into what’s new, what’s changing, and how you can stay on the "Nice List" (and avoid those pesky fines!).
🚪 Step Away From the Tape! The New Door Decoration Policy

🧲 It’s officially "Magnets Only" season! One of the best parts of walking down those long stateroom corridors is seeing the incredible creativity of our fellow guests. I’ve seen everything from handmade Disney banners to full-blown glowing "Fish Extenders."
However, as of June 3, 2026, Disney is getting much stricter about how those decorations stay up. The rule is simple: If it’s not a magnet, it’s not allowed.
- 🚫 No Tape, No Glue, No Command Strips: We’ve all seen the residue left behind by "removable" adhesives. DCL has decided enough is enough. Using anything sticky on your door can damage the finish, and nobody wants that!
- ⚠️ The $100 Fine: This is the big one. If the crew finds adhesive residue or damage to the door surface, you could be hit with a $100 damage fee per stateroom. That’s a lot of Mickey Premium Bars, friends!
- 🏠 No Walls or Ceilings: Keep the magic on the door itself. Decorations are no longer allowed on the hallway walls or the ceiling. This keeps the corridors clear and safe for everyone.
- 🔇 Keep it Quiet: While I love a good musical card, your door decorations can’t play audio or video anymore. Let’s keep those hallways peaceful!
Penny’s Pro-Tip: I always recommend buying a set of high-quality magnetic hooks before you sail. They’re perfect for hanging your lanyards or small banners without breaking the rules. If you’re feeling unsure about your decor, just reach out! I love helping my clients find the perfect DCL-approved accessories.
🥂 Cheers to the New Alcohol Policy (With a Twist!)
Let’s talk about the beverage situation. 🍷 Many of us love to enjoy a glass of wine on our private verandah while the sun sets over the ocean. (It’s basically my favorite part of the day!)
Starting this week, Disney is adjusting the amount of alcohol you can bring on board. Here’s the breakdown for guests 21 and older:
- 📉 The Reduction: You are now allowed to bring one (1) bottle of wine or Champagne (up to 750ml) OR one 6-pack of beer (no larger than 12oz per can/bottle) per person.
- Previous Policy vs. Now: This is a drop from the previous two-bottle allowance. I know, I know: it’s a bit of a bummer. But wait, there’s a silver lining!
- 💰 Lower Corkage Fee: If you want to bring that special bottle of wine to the dining room to share with your family, the corkage fee has been reduced to just $20 (down from $29). That’s almost enough savings for a souvenir glass!
Remember, you must pack your alcohol in your carry-on luggage. Never put it in your checked bags! I’ve seen some soggy suitcases in my time, and it’s not a pretty sight. 📦
📸 Say Cheese! (But Keep it Small)
We all want those perfect Instagram shots of the ship’s atrium or the view from Castaway Cay. But in 2026, Disney is tightening up on photography gear to keep everyone’s sightlines clear and safe. 🤳
- 📏 The 18-Inch Rule: Any selfie sticks, tripods, or monopods must be under 18 inches when folded.
- Why the change? Huge tripods and long sticks can be a tripping hazard in crowded areas. Plus, nobody wants to see a 5-foot pole in front of them during the "Frozen" deck show!
- 🎥 Professional Gear: If you’re bringing professional-grade equipment, you might need special permission. Most of us just using our phones or small vlogging cameras will be totally fine as long as our gear is compact.
❄️ Summer 2026: Frozen Fun & Pirate Parties

Now for the really fun stuff! Even with new rules, 2026 is shaping up to be the most magical year yet for Disney Cruise Line. I am personally obsessed with the Summer 2026 itinerary lineup! 🏔️
❄️ Alaska is calling!
The "Frozen" takeover in Alaska is returning with even more "cool" upgrades (pun intended!). We’re talking about brand-new character encounters with Olaf and Elsa, plus a special "Freezing the Night Away" deck party that feels absolutely ethereal against the backdrop of the Alaskan glaciers.
🏴☠️ A Pirate's Life for Me!
Disney is also revamping their legendary Pirate Night. For the 2026 sailings, they’ve introduced the "Pirate’s Plunder Deck Bash" with new pyrotechnics and a storyline that involves the whole audience. I’ve seen a sneak peek, and the choreography is incredible!
July means big crowds : but these new entertainment options are designed to spread the crowds out, making the whole ship feel like one big party. 🥳

🌟 Why Book Your 2026 Voyage With Regal Scenic Journeys Travel?
Navigating these new rules can feel like a full-time job. Should you bring the 17-inch tripod or the 19-inch one? Which door magnets are strong enough for the ship's metal? Is that bottle of Chardonnay worth the carry-on weight?
That’s where we come in! At Regal Scenic Journeys Travel, we are your personal advocates and Disney experts.
- 💰 We’re Complimentary! Our planning services are paid for by the travel suppliers, not by you. You get all our expertise for the exact same price as booking directly with Disney (sometimes even cheaper with our insider perks!).
- 🧠 Insider Knowledge: I stay up-to-date on every single policy change: like these June 3 updates: so you don't have to spend hours on forums or hold lines.
- ✨ Personalized Magic: We don't do "cookie-cutter" vacations. We’ll help you choose the right ship, the best stateroom (away from the noisy elevators!), and the perfect shore excursions.
- 🛡️ Stress-Free Support: If a flight is delayed or a rule changes last minute, we’re the ones on the phone fixing it while you enjoy your coffee.
I truly believe that a Disney cruise is one of the most magical experiences a family can have. I’d love to help you design the perfect trip that works with these new rules rather than against them!
